The Light House celebrated a successful 2nd annual Ales for Autism this previous month. Attendees sampled a range of beer food pairings, specifically curated for the event by the brewers at Niantic Public House, and Lillian’s Café chef, Steve Turner.
The first pairing featured guests’ choice of either Rasplosion, a raspberry porter, or Feeling Gobsmacked, a smoked beer, paired with charcuterie platters scattered around the room. For the next pairing, attendees were given Fear The Turtle, a milk stout, which they were able to pair with a variety of items from the raw bar, where Steve Turner was handing out shrimp cocktail and shucking littleneck clams and local oysters.
With the final pairing, guests had the chance to sample the event’s signature beer, the Ale for Autism. This New England IPA was paired with lamb merguez, a spicy Italian sausage. During the event, music played from Tom Petty cover band, I Petty The Fool, and guests bid on items at the silent auction.
Executive Director, Kassidy Brown, thanked guests for coming and spoke about the importance of providing scholarship funding for students. Headline sponsor, Liberty Bank, then presented a $4,000 check to representatives from The Light House in support of The Light House’s events.
The event raised over $6,700 for The Light House, which will go towards providing scholarships and program funding for students and individuals at all of The Light House’s campuses.
