Charter Oak awards $2,500 grant to Community Campus

The Light House recently received a $2,500 grant as part of Charter Oak’s Community Giving Grant Program to fund renovations and the purchase of new appliances at our New London Community Campus. Our main goal with this project is to ensure that our new building is a welcome, safe, and warm place that will encourage participants to learn and grow. These funds are an integral part in helping us do this by making the building more accessible and better suited to our programming needs.

The Light House’s Community Campus offers individualized and participant-driven adult day services including Day Service Options and Vocational Training. Recognizing that some individuals need a structured day program where they can learn through real life experiences and opportunities, our Community Campus was created to serve individuals with significant disabilities and behavioral concerns. This campus gives our participants the opportunity to develop the skills necessary for independent living and employment.

Charter Oak Credit Union’s Community Giving Grants Program is geared specifically to non-profit organizations that foster economic development and social well-being in both New London and Windham counties. With these funds, Charter Oak will assist in making our building a safe, welcoming, and accessible place for all of the individuals that we serve.
